Brazilian Blue

The Brazilian Blue (Pterinopelma sazimai, now often Lasiocyano sazimai) is one of the best sling-to-adult transformations in the hobby — a drab little spiderling that matures into a deep metallic blue stunner flecked with red abdominal setae. From the highland 'sky islands' of Brazil, it's hardy, forgiving, famously docile, and slow to flick hairs. A terrestrial that likes moisture but not swamp, it's widely called the ideal first blue tarantula: gorgeous, gentle, and genuinely easy.

Enclosure

4–5 inches of moisture-retaining coco/topsoil, damp on one side and drier on the other, with a water dish. Ventilate the damp base to prevent mold.

Feeding

A hardy, reliable eater. Prey to abdomen size; juveniles twice weekly, adults weekly. Not fussy. Remove uneaten prey in 24 hours.
